Hey way up there Mommy

Thanks for the comfy outfit Nana. Mommy is lucky she put it on me this past Sunday or it may have been way to small by the time she got it out. I miss you lots and can’t wait to see you at Christmas. Mommy puts my feet together lots, just like you do when we see eachother and she tells me often that I am your little sweet pea and that you love me lots. I love you to Nana. Kisses, Maddie

Yummy big toe!

Yummy big toe!

Maddie loves playing with her feet any time they are free from socks or sleepers. Occasionally she sucks on those big toes as she would on her thumb…quite amusing to watch. She has started babbling with new sounds this week. Sometimes it’s “Dada” sounds and there are a few other. All of them are so cute. She and I have been spending alot of time at the church prepping it for the Extreme Makeover we will start on the upstairs of the building next week. She jumps contentedly in her jolly jumper, or sits in her car seat with toys. I am thankful I can be busy and she is still happy.

Happy Birthday Papa!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Happy Birthday Papa! Hope you had a great day. Mommy and I tried phoning you tonight but you weren’t there and your machine wouldn’t let us leave a message. We love you and hope you are doing well. May God bless you this fall in the woods when you use your electronic moose caller…think of me Papa. I miss you tons.

Mommy & me

Maddie and I have had an interesting day…in fact I am wondering if the avocado and bananas weren’t such a good idea. Madelynn has had one of her fussiest days yet (which is still pretty tame). She doesn’t seem to be able to nap for long periods of time and she is spitting up and hiccuping a lot…YIKES…slow down Mommy. I guess you just have to learn this role as you go along. I am cutting back to oat cereal for now. Hopefully she has an okay night.

Hello Solids

Avocados! YUM
Originally uploaded by maswitzer.
Well, Maddie May has finally entered the world of solids. She has been devouring oat cereal for the past four weeks, and just graduated yesterday to cereal mixed with a bit of mashed avacado. One of the Moms at the Mom’s Group I run at home on Tuesday afternoons, said that avacados are a great first solid to introduce because they are mild and said to be easy to digest. Maddie is quite fond of them. Then, this morning at play group another Mom suggested that I mix cereal, avacados, and banana. Wow, that was a big hit tonight! It is so hard to believe our little girl is almost six months old. She loves to play in her exersaucer and has a soprano voice as she twirls the toys and talks to them. Occasionally while playing, she stops for a couple of sucks on her thumb and then it’s back to play time. She loves her evening bath and bedtime story. She has been a bit of stinker for Daddy with the bottle the past couple of nights…hoping it is just a stage! Nap and bedtimes are so easy with Madelynn. Swaddle her legs, sing her nap song and lay her down with her teddy close to her face. Then quietly leave and she talks herself to sleep. When she awakes in the morning she will talk and play in her crib for up to 45 minutes. After naps she will do the same thing for about 20 minutes. Parenthood can’t get much better than this!
